The Segré Foundation
The Segré Foundation was established in 1996. The Fund either directly implements environmental projects or provides financial support to partner organizations. The Segré Foundation strives to contribute to the conservation of the biodiversity of our planet by actively preserving endangered species and their habitats, as well as restoring degraded ecosystems.
Main priorities:
- Favor the long-term viability of wild populations and control factors affecting their decline.
- Support all efforts to maintain, restore and protect critical habitats and functional ecosystems.
- Support captive breeding of endangered species and their reintroduction into the wild.
- Foster the sustainable use of renewable natural resources, notably forests, water, rangelands.
- Improve the efficacy and implementation of national and international legislation on biodiversity conservation, taking into account stakeholders.
- Support educational activities, in particular specialized training of technical staff.
- Cooperate with the relevant regulatory and enforcement institutions to prevent and mitigate the impact of illegal hunting and trading of wildlife.
The Segré Foundation co-finances the international a cross-border project for the study and protection of large cats in Central Asia. In Kazakhstan, BRCC is the main performer of the component, which focuses on the study and conservation of the Central Asian leopard in the Mangystau region.
