Symposium “Data on Biodiversity of Eurasian Mountains and Deserts” in Almaty

On November 18-19, the international symposium “Eurasian Mountain and Desert Biodiversity Data” was held in Almaty. The symposium gathered more than 90 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, China, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Germany and Bulgaria. The main topic was the expansion of the international GBIF biogeography data exchange system to Central Asia.

And from 20 to 22, a practical course “Fundamentals of working with biodiversity data" was organized.
The events were organized by GBIF: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (https://www.gbif.org /) and the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan. BRCC staff also took an active part in this conference.
